Sign-up / Sign-in

Sign-in

When you arrive first at MyArtsJournal, you will land on the home page. It is here that to create your account.


Sign-Up

You can Sign-Up as a Student (Journaler), Teacher or a Family/Friend.

First select the kind of account you are setting up.

Enter Student’s, Teacher’s or Family/Friend’s name

Enter a Username – the Username is not changeable

Enter a Password

Parents with more than one child to sign-up, please make an account for each child. You may use your same email address for each student in order to link each child for easier navigation. As they are ready to manage the account on their own, simply put their email address on their account.

Students from California Music Studios (CMS) please enter your student ID. If you have more than one ID (Students with more than one Teacher), please click the “Add New” button to accommodate additional ID’s.


Account Types

account-types MyArtsJournal.com allows you to have any combination of the account types; Journaler, Teacher or Family/Friend. To add an account type, utilize the sub-navigation at your dashboard


Journaler Account

The Journal account is the top level account in the MyArtsJournal.com system. As a Journaler, a Journal is created and you can invite and interact with Teachers and Family/Friends. You will build and maintain your Journal, Portfolio and Archive with text (comments and messages), voice, video and images. Make it your own!

Teacher Account

The Teacher account at MyArtsJournal.com gives you the ability to post, comment and message with your students. The Teacher Account is free. There is no limit to the number of student’s you can invite. You give your students support that will help them track and share their successes, take lessons longer and develop more arts and life skills.

Family/Friend Account

The Family/Friend account enables you to see and acknowledge successes on the Journaler’s Portfolio. You will be notified each time the journaler has added something to their Portfolio You can also post media and share your thoughts. The Family/Friend Account is free. Please feel free to invite as many artist’s as you would like!


Sharing Content

You may share audio, video, photo, or simple text posts on MyArtsJournal.com. The video file is measured in minutes all others are measured in megabytes.


As a Journaler

sharing-journalerYou can post content to your Journal (current files that are not being shared), your Portfolio (files being shared with others) or your Archive (an historical record of your development over time). This is done utilizing the Portfolio/MyJournal/Archive drop down box in the Add New Post area and is also available at each individual post.

My Journal
Shows all posts designated as Portfolio and My Journal. These are generally current posts. Only you can see this view.

My Portfolio
This is the version of the MyJournal you choose to show to people in your network.

My Archive
These contents of your Journal are available only to you. It documents your collected successes that you will use to heighten your self-empowerment.


As a Family Friend or Teacher

sharing-teacherFrom your dashboard choose the Student’s Journal you would like to interact with. Click on the green pencil icon under the Journaler’s name. Note any post you make will be submitted to the Journaler for Review. The Journaler may choose to display the entry on their My Portfolio page, keep it private in their My Journal area, edit and/or delete the post all together. If the post is accepted, you will receive a notification.


Managing Content

As the Journaler you have complete control over what your group of Family/Friends and Teachers have access to. You can edit the Post status from your My Journal link or by clicking on Posts.

Note: When a Family/Friend member or Teacher posts content for your review – The Posts appear as Pending Posts in your Dashboard


Invitations

As a Journaler

invitations-journalerYou can Invite up to 25 teachers and Family/Friend members to be a part of your MyArtsJournal. Pending invitations show up on your dashboard whether they are invitations you sent, or invitations you need to respond to. You could easily be a Family/Friend to another student. But the possibilities don’t end there. You can even be a Student and a Teacher, if that is the profile configuration that fits your needs.

The Invitation process is easy. Designate the desired account (Journaler, Teacher or Family/Friend) and enter the person’s email address. If the email address you enter is for someone who has already registered, their username will appear. They will receive a notification email allowing them to register and be a part of your musical journey. Once they accept you will receive notification.


As a Teacher or Family/Friend

invitations-teacherTo open a Teacher or Family/Friend account from your Journal Account simply follow the 4 steps below. You may invite an unlimited number of students. The procedure is quite simple.
1 Select the type of account
2 Enter and Students name
3 Edit the message so the student knows it’s you
4 Click Send Invitation


Messaging

Teachers and Students can use the MyArtsJournal.com messaging system for quick notes, or conversation. To initiate a Messaging session, click on the blue envelope button next to the Student or Teacher’s name you wish to interact with. You may share videos, files, text messages or reminders.
When there is a Messaging session open, the avatar for the Teacher/Student you are conversing with appears in the Recent Messages portion of your Dashboard.


How much does MyArtsJournal cost?

Journaler Account

A free one-month trial is available to everyone on a fully functional version of the program. The free trial is limited to 20 minutes of video encoding* with a charge of $5.00 for each additional 60 minutes.
The fee for the Full Service is $9.99 a month.

  • Unlimited storage for the contents of the Journal
  • 60 minutes of video encoding* per month with a charge of $5.00 for each additional 60 minutes.
  • Unlimited audio, picture, text and messaging files

 

Arts Schools, Companies and Stores

Some schools, companies and stores have made special arrangements with My Arts Journal. They provide each Journaler with a unique ID to use when registering. The ID will define the fee. They will tell you the nature of the agreement they have with My Arts Journal.

 

Family/Friend and Teacher accounts are free of charge.

*Your video files can be put in one of three locations
1. My Journal – entries you are currently working on
2. Archive – a record of your development over time
3. Portfolio – videos you put in your Portfolio will be shared with your small, invited support group and need to be encoded to guarantee successful viewing on all platforms and browsers
